About Camp Grizzly
The Camp Grizzly Retreat is nestled along the Palouse River in the Hoodoo Mountains in Latah County, Idaho. This picturesque area is part of a gold mining district that goes back to 1860. Laird Park is next door. The property was a logging camp owned by the Potlatch Corporation until 1938 when it was donated to the Inland Empire Council (now Inland Northwest Council, SA) as a Scout camp. Camp Grizzly, which consists of 440 acres, is used for weeklong Scout camps for a month each summer, and during the rest of the year, it is used occasionally by the Scouts and rented to non-scouting groups.
The main camp area is about 80 acres and has a kitchen/dining hall (Fischer Lodge) that will seat 250 people, two and four-person cabins, two shower/toilet facilities, picnic shelters, a small lake (O’Connell), and activity areas. It is a wonderful place for weddings, corporate retreats, family reunions, church gatherings, and family camping. There are several acres of beautiful lawns, trails for hiking and biking, and access to the forest roads and trails of the Hoodoo mountains.
